Mock Driving Tests – Calm, Honest Test Preparation

A mock driving test is one of the most effective ways to understand whether you’re truly ready for your driving test — and to remove uncertainty before the big day.

At Ready To Pass Driver Training, our mock tests are delivered using real examiner insight, (Between them Dave & Susie have conducted over 30,000 driving tests mainly on the Wirral.) This helps you experience test conditions in a calm, supportive environment.

Dave or Susie will conduct a Mock Test for any instructor (Upton or Wallasey) or anyone learning without an instructor.

Our Mock Tests last 50 mins, and are as close to the real thing anywhere in the UK.

Lets talk about our prices!

The Cost for our Mock Test is £44

Our Mock Tests start very close to the driving test centre (Upton or Wallasey) and last 50 Mins which is enough time to complete the Mock Test and provide you with our fantastic debrief.

If you need to be picked up and taken to the test centre area we can do this but have to charge at our standard lesson rate for the time taken to pick you up & drop you off. We will advise you of this when booking

Why Take a Mock Driving Test?

Many learners feel confident during lessons but are unsure how that will translate on test day. A mock test helps by:

  • Replicating the structure and pace of a real driving test

  • Highlighting any remaining driving faults

  • Reducing anxiety by removing the unknown

  • Building confidence through clear, honest feedback

Rather than guessing your readiness, a mock test gives you clarity.

What Makes Our Mock Tests Different

Our mock tests are informed by former DVSA driving test examiner experience, so feedback is realistic, accurate, and aligned with current test standards.

We focus on:

  • Fault awareness — understanding why something is a fault

  • Decision-making under pressure

  • Consistency across different driving situations

  • Driving to test standard, not perfection

This approach helps learners improve properly, not just “tick boxes”.

What Happens During a Mock Test

Your mock test will:

  • Follow the format of a real DVSA driving test

  • Take place on local Wirral roads, including areas around Upton and Wallasey

  • Include independent driving

  • Be followed by a clear, supportive debrief

After the drive, we’ll talk through:

  • What went well

  • Any driving or serious faults

  • What needs refining before test day

  • Whether you’re ready to book your test or benefit from more practice

There’s no pressure — just honest guidance.

Who Mock Tests Are Most Useful For

Mock tests are particularly helpful if you:

  • Are approaching test standard

  • Feel unsure whether you’re really ready

  • Want to reduce test-day nerves

  • Have failed previously and want a clearer picture

  • Are changing instructor and want an independent assessment

What a Mock Test Is — and Isn’t

A mock test is:

  • A learning opportunity

  • A confidence-building exercise

  • A clear indicator of readiness

A mock test is not:

  • A pass or fail judgement

  • A guarantee of test success

  • Something to be feared

It’s simply a tool to help you prepare properly.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mock Driving Tests

When is the right time to take a mock driving test?
A mock test is most useful when you’re close to test standard but unsure whether you’re fully ready. It helps identify any remaining faults before booking your real test.

Will I be marked exactly like a real driving test?
Yes. Your driving will be assessed using the same fault categories and standards used on the DVSA driving test, so the feedback is realistic and accurate.

Is a mock test stressful?
We aim to keep the experience calm and supportive. While it mirrors real test conditions, the purpose is learning and confidence-building, not pressure.

What happens after the mock test?
You’ll receive clear, honest feedback on what went well, what needs improvement, and what to focus on next. We’ll also advise whether you’re ready to book your test or would benefit from more practice.

Can a mock test guarantee I’ll pass my real test?
No mock test can guarantee a pass. What it can do is reduce uncertainty, highlight areas to improve, and help you approach your real test feeling better prepared.

If you’re unsure whether a mock test would be helpful for you, feel free to get in touch — we’re happy to advise.
